The club can only run with the support of our Teachers and Volunteers.

If you are interested in helping and making a difference to the lives of our members, click on the ‘Fill in the Volunteer Form’ button or contact our volunteer co-ordinator.

No formal qualifications are required, but you should be interested in swimming. Our Director of Swimming Pauline will give you all of the help you need. The club is willing to consider sponsoring volunteers to gain swimming and teaching qualifications.

Volunteer Testimonials

“The past 3 years or so have been an amazing experience with Electric Eels. Over the years I have had the privilege to teach and be a role model to these children. Seeing them has inspired me to volunteer in many other areas of my life, and taught me a valuable lesson to put others first. This was not only learnt from the kids, but also from the other volunteers and coaches who put so much aside for the swimmers.

Seeing this charity grow and have swimmers come from all around Berkshire is inspiring! I wish you all the best and i hope that Electric Eels will continue to do the excellent work it has been doing”.

“Happy New Year Pauline, you have changed my world in so many ways, by having me at your club allowed me to have opportunities that I could only dream of, you have helped in my path of finding a job that I love.  You have honestly bettered me as a person and I love you loads Pauline so bring on the many more year and the rest of our adventures!xxxx”

The Queens Award to Volunteering

The Berkshire Community Foundation has nominated the Electric Eels Swimming & Synchro Club for THE QUEENS AWARD TO VOLUNTEERING.

This is a really special nomination for the club. We have around 26 1-1 volunteers and poolside teachers, who really make the club what it is. They are so patient, caring, understanding, consistent, & reliable.

We have got through the first part of the process, and now have had a visit from Dr Christina Hill Williams, Deputy Lieutenant, of the Royal County of Berkshire and Gordon Storey. Their recommendations will hopefully go through to the panel who will eliminate some of the contenders.

The next stage would be to go through to the Panel for the whole country, and finally winners will be contacted on the Anniversary of The Queens Coronation in 2018.

This is an amazing award to be part of and I wish everyone nominated the very best of luck.
