On Saturday the Eels entered a team at the ‘Harry Wild Open Swimming Champions’ kindly hosted by the Reading Cygnets. And no it wasn’t me and Pauline speeding down the M4 that incurred the speeding tickets, it was the improvement many of our swimmers showed in far out swimming their predicted times. Adrian, Matthew and Ronnie (who did it 3 times) all swam PB’s. Other highlights was Alessandra’s 100m IM, Molly getting her 1st medal of the meet and her resulting smiles, George doing his 30m race and Jake competing in his 1st 25m open freestyle. That said everyone did absolutely fantastically and far exceeded expectations. See smiles on the photos.
On a serious note it’s a great opportunity for our swimmers to experience galas run to strict championship rules. Far less disqualifications compared to last year. Some great life lessons learnt. Also an opportunity for Pauline and me to see progress 1st hand but also to record those little imperfections that creep back in outside the surroundings of our Saturday night sessions, bicycle kicking and breathing to the front during front crawl races. All things to work on, bring on next year!
