The Electric Eels Swimming Club was founded in June 2008. There are three aims of the club: to promote competitive swimming for young people with Down Syndrome, to be a fun club and to develop our volunteers.
We have charity status and every penny goes to helping our members. All of our committee, teachers and water helpers work on a voluntary basis.
Our swimmers are eligible to enter national disability galas and Special Olympics competitions.
Our Director of Swimming Pauline Walker has over 30 years experience of disability swimming, and is part of the coaching/caring of our G.B Team who go to the World Down Syndrome Championships every two years. We have a brilliant group of teachers and volunteers who work hard with our young people to get the best from them.
We train at the Windsor Leisure pool in Windsor most Saturday evenings from 5.30-6.30pm.
Testimonial
“Thank you for last night. Mike and I really enjoyed our first gala and of course Marcus did too. We were very proud of Electric Eels and realised just how important this group is for Marcus. He was very proud of himself at school today. I was informed that he carried his medals around all day. He has also been asked to speak at assembly! Just wanted to say a very big thank you for all your hard work and for making a big difference in all our children’s life”.
All our love,
Cathy and Mike. X – November 2016
